Hyderabad, [Date] – The Telangana government has formally requested the Central government’s assistance in mitigating the massive losses incurred due to recent heavy rains and floods. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, estimating the damages at a staggering ₹5,438 crore, appealed to Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan for urgent financial support.

The Union Minister met with the Chief Minister and other state ministers at the Telangana Secretariat on Friday to assess the severity of the situation. Earlier in the day, Minister Chouhan, accompanied by several Telangana Cabinet Ministers, visited flood-affected areas in Khammam district.

In a detailed presentation to the Union Minister, Reddy emphasized the unprecedented nature of the rainfall, highlighting that districts like Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Suryapet experienced a staggering 40 centimeters of rainfall in a single day. The Chief Minister reiterated the State Government’s immediate relief efforts, including the provision of ₹10,000 to each affected family. However, he stressed that the scale of the disaster necessitates significant Central assistance to aid in the recovery process.
