DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings (23-14-3) will close out 2025 with a home game against the Winnipeg Jets (15-18-4) at Little Caesars Arena tonight at 6:30 PM ET. The Red Wings, currently leading the Atlantic Division, are coming off a 3-2 overtime victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Jets, who won the Presidents’ Trophy last season, are struggling this year and are currently at the bottom of their division. They are also on a six-game losing streak. Winnipeg’s offense is led by Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor, each with 18 goals and 27 assists.
The game will be a special one for Red Wings forward Mason Appleton, who spent most of his career with the Jets before signing with Detroit this offseason. “It’s always a little weird playing your old team, but looking forward to the challenge,” Appleton said.
Another notable storyline is the first NHL matchup between Patrick Kane of the Red Wings and Jonathan Toews of the Jets, former teammates on the Chicago Blackhawks who won three Stanley Cups together. “It’ll be fun to play him for the first time ever in the NHL,” Kane said.
