Thu Jan 01 00:50:00 UTC 2026: Spurs Face Knicks Shorthanded as Vassell Sidelined with Adductor Strain
San Antonio, TX – The San Antonio Spurs will be without sharpshooter Devin Vassell when they host the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. Vassell has been ruled out due to an adductor strain, marking his first missed game of the season after starting all 32 previous contests.
Adding to the injury concerns, guard Stephon Castle is listed as questionable with a sprained thumb. Castle, a key contributor to the Spurs’ rotation, has missed nine games already this season. His absence would be a significant blow, especially with Vassell already out.
Vassell appeared to sustain the injury during the Spurs’ recent game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, briefly heading to the locker room with a trainer before returning to the court.
The Knicks are also dealing with their own injury woes. Landry Shamet (shoulder), Josh Hart (ankle), and Mitchell Robinson (ankle) will all be unavailable for the game.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on FanDuel Network.
