Sun Dec 28 02:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Calgary Flames Look to Rebound Against Oilers in Battle of Alberta
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames are set to face off against the Edmonton Oilers tonight at the Scotiabank Saddledome in the second Battle of Alberta matchup this week. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. MT.
All eyes are on goaltender Dustin Wolf, who is expected to start and make his 100th NHL appearance. The 24-year-old Californian will become only the second California-born goalie to reach this milestone, joining Vancouver Canucks’ Thatcher Demko. Wolf has been a strong presence at home this season, boasting a 7-4-2 record with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
The Flames lineup will see some changes as Justin Kirkland draws in as the fourth-line center, flanked by Ryan Lomberg and Adam Klapka. Coach Ryan Huska hopes Kirkland’s physical play will inject energy into the team and contribute to the penalty kill.
Following Tuesday’s disappointing 5-1 loss in Edmonton, defenseman MacKenzie Weegar emphasized the need for improved discipline. After taking 22 minutes in penalties and watching the Oilers capitalize with three power-play goals, Weegar addressed his teammates, expressing his regret for letting them down. He is looking for a more engaged and disciplined performance from the team tonight. “I’m expecting a better response from our team, way more engaged, more involved, and more discipline,” Weegar stated. “We get the opportunity to answer back tonight.”
