Bengaluru, December 23, 2025 – A 46-year-old college lecturer in Bengaluru has been arrested for leading a double life, allegedly stealing valuables from wedding venues on weekends. Revathi, a Kannada lecturer at a private college near Bellandur, is accused of posing as a guest at wedding functions across the city, gaining the trust of attendees, and then making off with gold jewelry.
The Basavanagudi police apprehended Revathi after an incident on November 25 at Dwarakanath Kalyana Mantapa, where she allegedly stole gold ornaments. Police investigations revealed a pattern of similar thefts at various marriage halls, with Revathi reportedly targeting wedding venues on Sundays.
According to police reports, Revathi would engage guests in conversation, posing as a relative of the bride or groom before pilfering valuables. She allegedly confessed to involvement in three theft cases, claiming she needed the money to cover the medical expenses of her ailing husband.
Authorities have recovered 262 grams of gold, valued at ₹32 lakh, which Revathi had pawned at various jewelery shops across Bengaluru. The Basavanagudi police are holding her in custody and continuing the investigation.
