Tue Dec 23 10:10:03 UTC 2025: Headline: Kerala Opposition Accuses CMO of Interference in Sabarimala Gold Loss Probe

Thiruvananthapuram, December 23, 2025 – The Congress party, led by Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan, has leveled serious accusations against the Kerala Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), alleging interference in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the Sabarimala gold loss case.

Speaking to reporters today, Satheesan claimed that the CMO has assigned two IPS officers to exert undue pressure on the SIT. While refraining from naming the officers “out of propriety,” he warned that their identities would be revealed if the pressure continues.

Satheesan emphasized the importance of an impartial investigation, stating that the opposition is closely monitoring the probe and will highlight any shortcomings. He credited the High Court’s intervention for the investigation’s current progress. He also stated that the Opposition has not expressed lack of confidence in the SIT, and expect the real culprits to be brought before the law at the earliest.

The Opposition Leader cautioned that if the SIT investigation falters, a CBI inquiry may become unavoidable. He asserted that arrests of key figures, including former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) chiefs A. Padmakumar and N. Vasu, would not have occurred without court scrutiny.

The SIT is currently investigating the loss of gold from Sabarimala temple artefacts. Several individuals, including past TDB presidents, have been arrested. Recently, the SIT informed a Vigilance court that Pankaj Bhandari of Smart Creations and Ballari-based jeweller Govardhan Roddam played key roles in the conspiracy, leading to their arrest on Friday.
