NCAA Volleyball Final Four Kicks Off in Kansas City with Top Teams Vying for Championship
KANSAS CITY, MO – The road to the NCAA volleyball championship culminates this week as the Final Four teams battle for the coveted title at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Action began Thursday, Dec. 18, with two thrilling semifinal matches.
The first match saw No. 3 seed Texas A&M facing off against No. 1 seed Pitt. In a tightly contested opening set, Texas A&M edged out Pitt after multiple lead changes and set points. Kyndal Stowers led the Aggies with nine kills, while Olivia Babcock paced Pitt with seven.
The second match of the night pitted No. 3 seed Wisconsin against Kentucky. The winners of these games will advance to the National Championship game.
Three of the competing programs boast a Player of the Year finalist on their rosters, adding to the excitement and high level of competition. Pitt’s Olivia Babcock, the reigning Player of the Year, aims for a historic back-to-back win. Wisconsin’s Mimi Colyer and Kentucky’s Eva Hudson, were also named as finalists. Texas A&M’s Ifenna Cos-Okpalla was named to the All-American first-team.
The National Championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 21, and will be broadcast on ABC.
Penn State is the reigning NCAA volleyball champion, having defeated Louisville last year.
