Mendhar, Jammu and Kashmir – December 17, 2025 – Indian Army troops apprehended a 35-year-old Pakistani woman on Tuesday after she crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Identified as Shehnaz Akhtar, a resident of the Gimma area of Kotli district in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), she was found in the Dabbi forward area of the Balakote sector.

According to initial reports, Akhtar fled her home following an argument with her father. She then crossed the LoC where she was taken into custody by an Indian Army unit. She is currently being held by the army pending official handover to local police authorities.
