Nissan Unveils Gravite MPV, Aiming for India Market Comeback

NEW DELHI, December 18, 2025 – Nissan is ramping up its presence in the Indian automotive market with the unveiling of the Nissan Gravite, a sub-4 meter MPV slated for launch in January 2026. This model, based on the Renault Triber platform, marks the second vehicle revealed from Nissan’s planned trio of new releases aimed at revitalizing the brand’s position in India. The other two vehicles in the lineup are the Tekton compact SUV and a 7-seater SUV.

The Gravite sports a distinctive design featuring a bold honeycomb mesh grille prominently displaying the Nissan logo. The “GRAVITE” badge sits proudly on the bonnet, mirroring the design cue seen on the recently previewed Tekton. Sleek LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are connected by a light bar, lending a modern touch to the front fascia. The MPV showcases a flat, creased bonnet for a muscular, SUV-like appeal and bumper incorporating silver C-shaped inserts.

While full profile details remain under wraps, visible elements include pull-type door handles, tall roof rails, and dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear boasts non-connected tail-lights linked by a chrome strip bearing the Nissan logo. The “GRAVITE” lettering is neatly placed on the lower tailgate above an uncluttered bumper design with similar C-shaped elements as the front.

Nissan has remained tight-lipped regarding the Gravite’s interior. It is expected to differ from the Triber, giving the Gravite its own unique appeal. The Gravite is speculated to be packed with features, including an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, push-button start-stop, manual AC with rear vents, remote keyless entry, a wireless phone charger, and a 6-speaker sound system. Safety will be a priority with six airbags as standard, along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and front and rear parking sensors coupled with a rear parking camera.

Powering the Gravite is expected to be the Renault Triber’s 1-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 72 PS and 96 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. The company is also considering offering a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine as an alternative.

Upon launch, the Nissan Gravite will compete with other 7-seater vehicles in the Indian market, including the Renault Triber, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6, Kia Carens, and the upcoming Kia Carens Clavis.

Nissan is banking on the Gravite, alongside the Tekton SUV and 7-seater SUV, to reignite consumer interest and bolster its market share in India. Further details regarding pricing and specific specifications will be released closer to the launch date in January 2026.
