MYSURU, INDIA – December 18, 2025 – In a bid to enhance academic performance ahead of the upcoming Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations, authorities in Mandya district, Karnataka, have implemented a new initiative involving the appointment of 56 nodal officers. These officers will be responsible for closely monitoring the academic activities and addressing challenges within the district’s schools.

Mandya Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nandini K.R. emphasized the importance of this program during a review meeting held on Wednesday. She directed the nodal officers to conduct comprehensive visits to their assigned schools by December 20th, aiming to identify and document any issues impacting student learning.

Concerns raised by students and the public regarding incomplete syllabus coverage, teacher absenteeism, lack of special classes, and inadequate model examinations prompted the implementation of this program. The nodal officers have been tasked with investigating these allegations and ensuring that corrective measures are swiftly implemented.

To ensure transparency, model examinations will be conducted across all 253 high schools, with answer scripts evaluated by teachers from neighboring taluks. Students who perform poorly on these tests will receive targeted academic support to improve their understanding of the subject matter.

A dedicated WhatsApp group, comprising nodal officers, Block Education Officers (BEOs), the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), and other key officials, will facilitate real-time monitoring and communication. Nodal officers are required to share photographs of their school visits, suggestions for improvement, and details of implemented strategies through this platform.

From Thursday onwards, a series of examinations will be conducted over three consecutive days, focusing on two subjects per day. Question papers will be provided at the district level, and the answer scripts will be evaluated by teachers from other taluks. Students scoring less than 50% will receive additional support.

A follow-up meeting is scheduled in 15 days, during which nodal officers and the DDPI will present a detailed action plan to further improve results, particularly in aided and private schools.
