Veteran Dubbing Artist Bhagyalakshmi’s Resignation Accepted by FEFKA

KOCHI – The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has accepted the resignation of veteran dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi, who stepped down on December 9th in protest of the organization’s decision to reinstate actor Dileep following his acquittal in a high-profile actor rape case.

FEFKA President Shoby Thilakan expressed “pain” in accepting her resignation, acknowledging Bhagyalakshmi’s significant contributions to the union since its inception. He emphasized that the decision to accept the resignation was made due to her firm stance.

Bhagyalakshmi had criticized FEFKA for failing to support the survivor in the case, stating that the swift discussions to reinstate Dileep demonstrated a lack of solidarity with victims of abuse. She felt her position of supporting survivors would be compromised if she remained within an organization taking steps to support the accused actor.

She further accused the federation leadership of failing to empathize with the survivor or even offer her support.

Bhagyalakshmi’s resignation followed discussions among FEFKA, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), and the Kerala Film Producers’ Association regarding Dileep’s reinstatement.
