Carlos Alcaraz and Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero Announce Shocking Split
Madrid, Spain – In a stunning announcement that has reverberated throughout the tennis world, world number one Carlos Alcaraz and his coach of over seven years, Juan Carlos Ferrero, have mutually decided to end their professional relationship. The news broke Wednesday via social media posts from both Alcaraz and Ferrero, marking the end of a highly successful partnership that saw Alcaraz rise from a promising junior player to a Grand Slam champion.
“After more than seven years together, Juanqui and I have decided to end our stage together as coach and player,” Alcaraz wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for making childhood dreams realities. We started this path when I was just a kid, and during all this time you have accompanied me on an incredible journey, on and off the court.”
Under Ferrero’s tutelage, Alcaraz captured 24 titles, including six Grand Slam victories. Ferrero was twice named ATP Coach of the Year by his peers, most recently alongside Samuel López.
“Today is a difficult day,” Ferrero said in his own social media statement. “Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when there are so many shared experiences behind it. We have worked hard, grown together, and shared unforgettable experiences. I want to give thanks for the time, the trust, the learning, and above all, for the people who have surrounded me throughout this journey.”
According to sources, Samuel López will remain with Alcaraz as a coach, accompanying him on the upcoming Australian tour. Furthermore, Alcaraz’s older brother, Álvaro Alcaraz, who has served as a sparring partner, may take on a more prominent role within the team.
The split is described as amicable, with both Alcaraz and Ferrero expressing gratitude and mutual respect. Alcaraz stated, “We have managed to reach the top, and I feel that if our sporting paths had to separate, it should be from up there. From the place we always worked for and always aspired to reach.”
Ferrero echoed this sentiment, “We have worked hard, grown together, and shared unforgettable experiences.”
The tennis world now waits to see what the future holds for both Alcaraz and Ferrero as they embark on new chapters in their respective careers.
