Modi Strengthens India-Jordan Ties During Amman Visit
Amman, Jordan – December 15, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded the first day of his two-day visit to Jordan, meeting with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein at the Husseiniya Palace in Amman. The leaders engaged in discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing regional issues.
This marks the first full-fledged bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Jordan in 37 years, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. King Abdullah II personally welcomed Modi, a gesture highlighting the close relationship between the countries.
Modi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and confidence that the visit would boost bilateral linkages. The Jordanian Prime Minister echoed this sentiment, expressing his desire for increased cooperation in economic, investment, and technological fields.
The Indian community in Amman warmly greeted Modi upon his arrival, further emphasizing the strong connection between India and its diaspora.
On Tuesday, Modi and King Abdullah II will address a joint India-Jordan business event aimed at fostering economic collaboration. Weather permitting, the Prime Minister and the Crown Prince will also visit Petra, a historic city with ancient trade ties to India.
India and Jordan share strong economic ties, with bilateral trade valued at $2.8 billion. Jordan is a significant supplier of fertilizers to India, and a vibrant Indian diaspora of over 17,500 people resides in the country.
This visit is the first leg of Modi’s three-nation tour, which will also include Ethiopia and Oman, further cementing India’s relationships with key partners in the region.
