PITTSBURGH, PA – The Purdue Boilermakers are heading back to the Regional Finals! After a hard-fought victory over the SMU Mustangs on Thursday night, Purdue secured their spot in the next round of the NCAA tournament. The Boilermakers defeated SMU in four sets (16-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22, 29-27).
With the win, Coach Dave Shondell ties Purdue men’s basketball legend Gene Keady as the all-time winningest head coach in Purdue Athletics history with 512 wins.
Purdue, now with a 27-6 record, will face the top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 4 Pittsburgh Panthers. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN2. This marks the first meeting between Purdue and Pittsburgh since their Regional Final matchup in 2021, which was also held in Pittsburgh.
