Huskers Head to Las Vegas Bowl for Showdown with Utah
Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Cornhuskers are heading to Las Vegas! The Huskers have accepted a bid to play in the 2025 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl, where they will face off against the Utah Utes. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, December 31, at Allegiant Stadium, with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. CT (12:30 p.m. PT). ESPN will provide television coverage.
This marks Nebraska’s first-ever appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl and their 55th bowl game in program history. The Huskers enter the contest with a 7-5 record, continuing their streak of improving their win total for the fourth consecutive year under Head Coach Matt Rhule.
“The Las Vegas Bowl gives our football team the opportunity to visit a great city and compete in one of the nation’s best venues against an elite opponent,” said Rhule. “The University of Utah has been one of the top programs in the country over the past two decades and have had another outstanding season in 2025. I know our players are eager to play a 13th game and have a memorable bowl experience.”
Nebraska holds a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series against Utah, though this will be the first meeting between the two programs since 1992.
“The University of Nebraska is excited to accept a bid to the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl,” stated Director of Athletics Troy Dannen. “Our football team has played from coast to coast this season, and Husker fans have flocked to each stop along the way and filled the stadium with Red! I am sure that the bowl game at Allegiant Stadium will be no different.”
Utah boasts an impressive 10-2 record this season, with their only losses coming against Big 12 Championship participants Texas Tech and BYU. The Utes, led by veteran Head Coach Kyle Whittingham, are known for their potent rushing attack, averaging nearly 270 yards per game on the ground. They also rank among the nation’s leaders in total offense and scoring offense. Their defense is opportunistic as well.
