Sat Dec 13 14:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Everton Manager Moyes Praises Performance Despite Chelsea Defeat

London, UK – Everton manager David Moyes remained optimistic despite his side’s 2-0 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday, telling BBC’s Match of the Day that he felt the performance was far from disappointing.

While acknowledging the loss of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall impacted the team, Moyes insisted Everton adapted well. “I know we’ve come away with a disappointing result but it wasn’t a disappointing performance,” he stated. “We did a lot of really good things today.”

Moyes even suggested it might have been one of Everton’s best away performances, despite failing to capitalize on chances. He highlighted a missed opportunity by Jack Grealish which, had it been converted, could have leveled the score. He also lamented a crossed ball straight into the goalkeeper’s arms, which directly led to Chelsea’s goal just before halftime.

“It felt a bit unfair on us because I thought for long periods we did well,” Moyes said, adding that while Chelsea possessed the ball, Everton were always a threat. He attributed the loss to failing to convert chances in the final third.

Despite the setback, Moyes emphasized a positive outlook, saying, “We stuck at it, we were never out of the game and were always a threat. We’ll go away, look at it and hopefully do better next time.”

The defeat extends Everton’s woes, while Chelsea ended their winless run with the victory.
