Sat Dec 13 12:30:00 UTC 2025: Philadelphia Braces for Weekend Snow, Winter Weather Advisory Issued

Philadelphia – The Philadelphia region is set to receive its first significant snowfall of the season this weekend, with a winter weather advisory in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday through 1 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting a general accumulation of 2 to 4 inches of snow, with the possibility of isolated areas receiving 3 to 5 inches.

“It looks like that’s going to change,” said Eric Hoeflich from the National Weather Service, referring to last winter when snow fell around the area, but did not fall on Philadelphia.

A storm system forming along an Arctic front, combined with an upper atmospheric disturbance, is expected to bring snowflakes to the region late Saturday night or early Sunday. While a mix of rain and snow is possible initially, especially south and east of the city, forecasters anticipate a primarily snow event.

The NWS advises commuters to be aware of potential travel disruptions Sunday morning as snow could impact roadways. In particular, early morning churchgoers and those heading to the Eagles game at Lincoln Financial Field should allow for extra travel time. However, the snow is expected to cease before kickoff, scheduled for 1:15 p.m.

Forecasters say it is likely the snow will begin late Saturday night or early Sunday and continue until mid- to late morning. Temperatures throughout the day are not expected to get past 30, with wind chills in the teens.

Despite the potential for slightly higher accumulations, the NWS emphasizes that this is not expected to be a major snowstorm. Residents are urged to stay informed and monitor weather updates for any changes in the forecast.
