Suryavanshi Blitz Propels India U19s Against UAE in Asia Cup Opener
Dubai, UAE – A blistering century from Vaibhav Suryavanshi highlighted India U19s’ dominant performance against the United Arab Emirates in their opening match of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai.
After UAE captain Yayin Rai won the toss and elected to bowl, India lost captain Ayush Mhatre early. However, Suryavanshi launched a brutal assault on the UAE bowling attack, reaching his half-century in quick time. The young star continued his onslaught, smashing a century off just 56 deliveries. His aggressive innings included numerous boundaries, putting the UAE under immense pressure.
Suryavanshi eventually fell for a 42-ball 144, dismissed by Uddish Suri who cleaned up Suryavanshi’s stumps. Aaron George contributed with a solid knock, providing valuable support.
Earlier in the innings, the UAE’s Yug Sharma picked up the early wicket of Ayush Mhatre, who edged behind to the keeper. The UAE bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batsmen, who went past the 250-mark in the 30th over.
Analysis:
Suryavanshi’s remarkable innings has further fueled speculation about his potential. Priyank Panchal, a retired Indian first-class cricketer, suggested that Suryavanshi could be fast-tracked into the senior national team soon.
