Thu Dec 11 12:10:00 UTC 2025: Telangana Sarpanch Elections See Surprising Results: Mother Loses to Daughter, Ruling Party MLA Suffers Setback
Hyderabad, India – The first phase of the Telangana Sarpanch elections has concluded, revealing some unexpected outcomes. While the ruling Congress party secured the most seats, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party showed strong performance, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed only a limited number of victories.
In a particularly striking result, a daughter defeated her own mother in the village of Thimmaiahpally, Jagtial district. Pallepu Suma won against her mother, Gangavva, by 91 votes. The unusual situation arose after Suma married a man from the village against her mother’s wishes, leading to a family rift.
Adding to the surprises, Congress MLA Anirudh Reddy faced defeat in his own village, Rangareddyguda. The BJP candidate, Katepaga Revathi Anand, won the Sarpanch election with a 31-vote majority, marking a setback for the ruling party in the MLA’s home turf.
The elections saw high voter turnout, with many villages achieving unanimous selections. However, the released results have sparked considerable interest and discussion across the state. The Congress party’s performance in Mahabubnagar, the home district of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, was below expectations, raising concerns within the party.
