The new deadline is now December 12th.
The original deadline was December 3rd, which was then extended to December 8th. However, the SSC website experienced server issues starting last Sunday as thousands of candidates simultaneously attempted to submit their applications.
“We believe the server experienced problems due to the sheer volume of applications being submitted at the same time,” an SSC official stated. “To ensure that all eligible candidates have the opportunity to apply, we have decided to extend the deadline to December 12th.”
As of today, the SSC has received approximately 1.4 million applications.
The extension comes after the SSC released a list on Friday identifying 3,512 individuals involved in irregularities in the 2016 recruitment examination for Group C and Group D positions. SSC sources indicate that the total number of individuals implicated is closer to 7,293. Details of the remaining candidates will be published soon. The list included candidates’ names, roll numbers, marks, fathers’ names, addresses and the positions they applied for.
Around 1.8 million applications were received in 2016. There are 2,989 vacancies in Group C and 5,488 in Group D.
