Powerball Jackpot Soars to $820 Million, One of the Largest in History
[City, State] – [Date] – The Powerball jackpot has reached an astounding $820 million, making it the second-largest prize this year and the eighth-largest in the game’s history. The winning numbers for Saturday night’s drawing were 13, 14, 26, 28, 44 with Powerball 7.
This massive jackpot follows a recent $1.787 billion win in September, which was split between tickets in Missouri and Texas. According to Powerball, the odds of winning are a daunting 1 in over 292 million.
The lucky winner will have the option of receiving a lump sum cash payment estimated at $378.2 million or an annuitized prize of the full $820 million, paid out in annual installments. Both amounts are subject to taxes.
To participate, players can purchase a $2 Powerball ticket and choose five white numbers between 1 and 69, and one red number between 1 and 26 for the Powerball. The jackpot grows with each drawing until a ticket matches all six numbers.
Since its inception in 1992, Powerball has generated an estimated $36 billion for charitable causes.
