Valencia, Spain – The Valencia Marathon 2025, a World Athletics Platinum Label event, is poised to be a thrilling spectacle on Sunday, December 7th, as 35,000 runners prepare to take to the streets. Known for its ultra-fast course, the race annually draws elite athletes aiming for personal bests and course records.

This year’s competition boasts a star-studded lineup. Leading the women’s field is Kenya’s Peres Jepchirchir, the reigning world and Olympic champion, who is looking to improve her personal best just months after her World Athletics Championships victory. She will face stiff competition from fellow Kenyan Joyciline Jepkosgei, the 2019 New York Marathon champion, and Amane Beriso, the Ethiopian record holder on the Valencia course, with a time of 2:14:58. Keria D’Amato, the American half-marathon record holder, will be also seeking to take advantage of the ideal weather conditions. European marathon silver medalist Majida Maayouf leads the Spanish contingent.

In the men’s race, Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia, the 2023 Valencia Marathon champion, aims to defend his title. He faces challenges from Kenyan newcomers Vincent Nyageo and Patrick Mosin, both making their marathon debuts. Local hopes rest on Tariku Novales, the Spanish national marathon record holder. Spain’s Fernando Carro and Adel Mechaal, European track medallists, will also run their first marathons.

The race begins at 8:15 AM CET from the Plaça de la Marató, with staggered start times for various waves of participants. The finish line is located at the iconic Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
