London, December 6, 2025 – The UK government has announced sanctions against British Sikh businessman Gurpreet Singh Rehal and the Babbar Akali Lehar organisation, marking the first application of the country’s ‘Domestic Counter-Terrorism Regime’ to combat funding for the pro-Khalistan militant group Babbar Khalsa.
The Treasury Department announced Thursday that Rehal, previously associated with the sports investment firm Panjab Warriors, is now subject to an asset freeze and director disqualification. Authorities accuse him of belonging to organizations involved in terrorist activities in India, including recruitment, financial support, and weapons procurement for Babbar Khalsa.
“We will not stand by while terrorists exploit Britain’s financial system,” stated Lucy Rigby, Economic Secretary to the Treasury. “This landmark action shows we are prepared to use every tool at our disposal to choke off funding for terrorism – wherever it occurs and whoever is responsible.”
Sanctions extend to entities owned by Rehal, including Saving Punjab, Whitehawk Consultations Ltd, and Loha Designs.
The move follows an assessment by HM Treasury that Rehal and Babbar Akali Lehar are involved in promoting and supporting Babbar Khalsa’s terrorist activities.
Morecambe FC and Panjab Warriors have issued a joint statement claiming that Rehal’s consultancy role had been terminated and he is no longer affiliated with either entity. The organizations said they have taken immediate and decisive action to remove his association in response to the recently raised serious concerns.
