Sun Dec 07 05:30:00 UTC 2025: Sean Combs Allegedly Billed Notorious B.I.G.’s Estate for Extravagant Funeral, New Documentary Claims
New York, NY – Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly billed the estate of the late Notorious B.I.G. for his lavish funeral, despite publicly portraying it as a personal act of generosity, according to Kirk Burrowes, co-founder of Bad Boy Records, in the new Netflix documentary “Sean Combs: The Reckoning.”
Burrowes claims that Combs, seeking to maintain a positive public image, planned an extravagant send-off for the slain rapper, Christopher Wallace. However, upon realizing the significant cost, Combs allegedly decided to recoup the expenses from Biggie’s estate.
“He was gonna make the funeral be a recoupable charge to Biggie in death,” Burrowes stated in the documentary, which premiered Tuesday. “Sean, doing a big show looks good on him. But he’s not gonna tell the world that Biggie was gonna pay for it.”
The funeral, held on March 18, 1997, drew thousands of fans to the streets of Brooklyn as a hearse carrying Wallace’s coffin made its way through the borough. The Bad Boy Records family, including Wallace’s wife, Faith Evans, and his group Junior M.A.F.I.A., were in attendance at the star-studded service.
Burrowes further alleges that Combs attempted to retroactively alter Wallace’s recording contract to favor Bad Boy Records, a move Burrowes refused to facilitate, leading to his eventual termination from the company. He also claims Combs pushed for himself to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 1997 instead of the late B.I.G.
Wallace was shot and killed in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, just months after the murder of Tupac Shakur. His murder remains unsolved.
