Sharjah Warriorz and MI Emirates Seek First Win in ILT20 Clash

Sharjah, UAE – December 7, 2025, 15:30 IST (Updated 15:39 IST) – The Sharjah Warriorz and MI Emirates are set to face off today in match No. 6 of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2025-26 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season after suffering defeats in their opening matches.

The Tim Southee-led Sharjah Warriorz were humbled by the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, conceding a massive 233/4 and falling short with a score of 194/9. Despite possessing a strong squad, the Warriorz will need to regroup quickly to avoid another setback.

MI Emirates, captained by Kieron Pollard, also started their campaign with a loss, succumbing to the Gulf Giants. After posting 163/6, the Emirates saw their total chased down with ease in just 14 overs, leaving them hungry for a turnaround.

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium, known for its smaller boundaries, may not necessarily provide an ideal batting surface. Teams will need to maximize the powerplay overs to build a solid foundation. The pitch is expected to slow down as the innings progresses, potentially making run-scoring challenging in the middle overs.

Key Players to Watch:

  • Sharjah Warriorz: Tim David, fresh off a sensational Abu Dhabi T10 League performance where he topped the run-scoring charts, will be a crucial asset to the Warriorz batting lineup. His explosive hitting, exemplified by his 60 off 24 balls in the previous match, makes him a significant threat.
  • MI Emirates: AM Ghazanfar emerged as a standout bowler for MI Emirates in their first game. In 2.4 overs, he gave away 18 runs and picked up one wicket. No other bowler in his team had an economy rate below 10.

Projected Squads:

  • Sharjah Warriorz: Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Johnson Charles, Tom Abell, Tim David, Sikandar Raza, Dinesh Karthik (WK), Dwaine Pretorius, Tim Southee (C), Adil Rashid, Junaid Siddique, Saurabh Netravalkar.
  • MI Emirates: Muhammad Waseem, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Banton, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Tajinder Dhillon, Kieron Pollard (C), Romario Shepherd, Rashid Khan, Chris Woakes, Muhammad Rohid Khan, AM Ghazanfar.

Cricket fans can expect a competitive match as both teams aim to secure their first points in the tournament.
