Delhi Grocery Store Fire Claims Lives of Couple
New Delhi – December 7, 2025 – A devastating fire in outer Delhi’s Mundka area on Friday claimed the lives of a young couple, Vineet, 31, and Renu, 29, who owned the grocery store where the blaze originated. According to police reports, the fire is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit near the store’s counter.
Responding to the incident, local police and fire services swiftly arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that plastic packets hanging near the counter may have accelerated the spread of the flames. Trapped inside, the couple reportedly attempted to lower the shutter, inadvertently creating a confined space that quickly filled with smoke, leading to severe suffocation.
Emergency responders forced open the shutter and rushed the victims to Oscar Hospital in Bahadurgarh, but tragically, they were pronounced dead on arrival. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident, with crime scene investigators and fire service personnel inspecting the site to determine the precise cause and contributing factors of the deadly fire.
