Agartala, December 7, 2025 – Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has declared that any attempts to restrict movement or intimidate individuals or political parties within the state will not be tolerated. Speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) event in Barkathal on Saturday, December 6th, Saha emphasized the right of all individuals and political entities to freely participate in programs throughout Tripura.
His statement comes amid reports of threats aimed at preventing BJP events in the Barkathal area, which falls under the Simna Assembly constituency currently held by the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), an ally of the BJP in the state’s coalition government. While refraining from directly naming the TMP, Saha reiterated the BJP’s commitment to “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (collective effort, inclusive growth) and the principles upheld by party leaders like Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Deendayal Upadhayay.
During the Barkathal event, Saha welcomed 107 families who joined the BJP. He further cautioned against politics that sow division or exploit communal sentiments, and acknowledged the past susceptibility of some individuals, particularly from tribal communities, to militancy. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for bringing peace to the Northeast through numerous agreements, while also warning against ongoing efforts to destabilize the country.
