Nation Commemorates Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Death Anniversary
New Delhi, December 6, 2025: India paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the nation’s first Law Minister and a key architect of the Indian Constitution, on his death anniversary today. A national seminar was held by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) to honor Ambedkar’s legacy.
Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar, along with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, offered floral tributes to Ambedkar’s statue at the Parliament House complex. Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, also participated in the tributes.
NCSC Chairperson Kishore Makwana highlighted the historical correspondence between Dr. Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, noting Patel’s defense of the rights of “untouchables” during periods of social unrest, a gesture lauded by Ambedkar himself.
Prime Minister Modi, in a message posted on X, lauded Dr. Ambedkar’s “visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and constitutionalism,” emphasizing his continued guidance for the nation. He urged that Ambedkar’s ideals continue to light the path toward building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
Minister Kumar echoed this sentiment on social media, calling upon citizens to pledge their commitment to a developed India guided by Dr. Ambedkar’s principles, advocating for social harmony, education, and the protection of constitutional rights. The event served as a reminder of Ambedkar’s enduring impact on Indian society and his continued relevance in the pursuit of a just and equitable nation.
