Sat Dec 06 10:21:57 UTC 2025: Headline: Israeli Firm to Supply India with LMGs, Carbines, Eyes Arbel Technology Integration

Jerusalem – Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) is set to begin supplying India with 40,000 Light Machine Guns (LMGs) in early 2026, following the completion of all necessary tests and licensing. The company is also in the final stages of securing a contract to provide 170,000 new-age Close Quarters Battle (CQB) carbines, with deliveries expected to commence shortly after the contract is finalized, potentially by early next year.

According to IWI CEO Shuki Schwartz, 60% of the CQB carbine supply will be sourced from Bharat Forge, while the remaining 40% will be delivered by PLR Systems, a subsidiary of the Adani Group.

IWI is also in preliminary discussions with Indian agencies regarding the integration of Arbel technology, a computerized weapon system designed for enhanced accuracy. Schwartz envisions co-production of Arbel systems in both Israel and India, with PLR Systems handling local manufacturing.

Beyond these major contracts, IWI is collaborating with India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to market a broader range of products, including pistols and rifles, through smaller, ongoing contracts. The company estimates potential annual weapon supplies could reach tens of thousands.

Schwartz emphasized IWI’s commitment to the “Make in India” initiative and its strong partnership with the Adani Group through PLR Systems, focusing on local light weapons manufacturing and Arbel system integration. He also assured that IWI has secured a robust supply chain to ensure consistent global defense support, in light of recent restrictions on equipment supply from some European countries.

This move further strengthens defense cooperation between India and Israel and provides a significant boost to India’s domestic arms production capabilities.
