NARASARAOPET (PALNADU DISTRICT), December 5, 2025 – A tragic accident on National Highway 16 near Chilakaluripet in Andhra Pradesh claimed the lives of five engineering students on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in Nadendla police station limits of Palnadu district.
According to Superintendent of Police B. Krishna Rao, the students were traveling in a car that collided with a trailer. Four students were pronounced dead at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Six students, all believed to be from Vignan Engineering College, were in the vehicle. They were traveling from Guntur towards Vinukonda.
“Preliminary reports suggest that the car struck a trailer that was traveling ahead of them,” SP Krishna Rao told The Hindu. Police are currently working to identify the deceased and notify their families. Authorities noted that some of the students were observing Ayyappa Deeksha.
