Thu Dec 04 23:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Gibbs Reaches 1,000-Yard Milestone Amidst Lions’ Thanksgiving Loss

Detroit, MI – Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs achieved a personal milestone on Thanksgiving, surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the 2025 NFL season. This accomplishment makes him the 28th former Alabama player to reach this mark in NFL history.

Despite Gibbs’ strong individual performance of 68 yards on 20 carries, the Lions fell to the Green Bay Packers 31-24 in a disappointing Thanksgiving Day matchup. Gibbs, who has already scored 10 touchdowns this season, was unable to find the end zone against the Packers’ defense.

The loss marks a season sweep for Green Bay over their NFC North rivals, having defeated the Lions earlier in the season on September 7th.

Gibbs, who ran for 1,412 yards in 2024, joins a prestigious list of Alabama alumni who have reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark in the NFL. The Packers also featured another Alabama running back in their lineup, Josh Jacobs, who contributed 83 yards to Green Bay’s victory, bringing his season total to 731 yards.

Meanwhile, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry is on the verge of joining the 1,000-yard club, currently sitting at 871 yards as of Thursday night’s game.

Other notable Alabama alumni to have reached the 1,000-yard milestone in the NFL include Bobby Humphrey, Shaun Alexander, Mark Ingram, Eddie Lacy, and Najee Harris.
