Thu Dec 04 09:20:00 UTC 2025: ## YouTube Joins the Year-End Recap Trend with Personalized “Recap” Feature

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Following in the footsteps of Spotify and Apple Music, YouTube has launched its own personalized year-end recap feature, aptly named “YouTube Recap.” The service began rolling out to users in North America on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, offering a visually engaging summary of their viewing habits and preferences throughout the year.

Available in 17 languages, including English, Spanish, Korean, Polish, Indonesian and Hindi, YouTube Recap provides signed-in users with insights into their top channels, interests, and even assigns them a personality type based on their watch history. Similar to Spotify Wrapped, the feature presents information in a series of up to 12 cards, highlighting the content, creators, music, and moments that defined their YouTube experience.

To access your YouTube Recap, users can simply log into their YouTube account on the mobile app or desktop site and find it on the homepage or under the “You” tab. YouTube Music users can also find a dedicated “Your Recap” section within their profile.

While most active users are expected to receive a Recap, YouTube outlined specific eligibility requirements to access this feature.

One unique element of YouTube Recap is its “Personality” card, which assigns users one of 14 different personas based on the content they consume. According to initial data, the most common personality types were the “Sunshiner,” “Wonder Seeker,” and “Connector,” while the “Philosopher” and “Dreamer” proved to be the rarest.

This new personalized feature comes after YouTube retired its annual “Rewind” video series. After skipping in 2020 in light of the year’s challenges, YouTube announced in 2021 that it would discontinue the global compilation, stating, “We no longer feel that a single video YouTube creates can reflect the full breadth of our creator community.” The platform has instead empowered creators to celebrate their own communities and content in their own unique ways.

The rollout of YouTube Recap is expected to continue throughout the week, expanding to users across the globe.
