COIMBATORE, December 4, 2025 – Cybercrime police in Coimbatore have apprehended a 42-year-old man from Erode for allegedly swindling a local resident out of ₹3.5 lakh with a fraudulent job offer. K. Arun, a resident of Chinna Chettipalayam in Erode district, was arrested on Wednesday and is now in judicial custody.
According to police reports, Daniel Abraham from Chinnavedampatti in Coimbatore filed a complaint alleging that Arun had scammed him after promising a lucrative hotel management position in Australia for his son. The alleged scam began with a WhatsApp contact claiming to be the owner of a company in Armenia. The contact persuaded Abraham to pay ₹3.5 lakh for visa processing fees. Following the payment, the contact became unreachable, prompting Abraham to alert the authorities.
The cybercrime police investigated the case and identified Arun as the perpetrator. Authorities revealed that Arun has prior criminal cases registered against him in Tiruchi district and Salem city, suggesting a pattern of fraudulent activity.
