Arun, a resident of Chinna Chettipalayam in Erode district, was arrested on Wednesday and is now in judicial custody.
According to police reports, Daniel Abraham from Chinnavedampatti in Coimbatore filed a complaint alleging that Arun had scammed him after promising a lucrative hotel management position in Australia for his son. The alleged scam began with a WhatsApp contact claiming to be the owner of a company in Armenia. The contact persuaded Abraham to pay ₹3.5 lakh for visa processing fees. Following the payment, the contact became unreachable, prompting Abraham to alert the authorities.
The cybercrime police investigated the case and identified Arun as the perpetrator.
