BJP Leads in Delhi Bypolls, AAP Claims Rekindled Trust
New Delhi – December 3, 2025 – Results from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bypolls for 12 wards reveal a mixed outcome, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing a majority of seven seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won three wards, while the Congress and All India Forward Bloc each claimed one.
Despite the BJP’s overall lead, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal expressed optimism, stating the party is “winning back the trust of Delhiites.” In a post on X, Kejriwal asserted that public support for AAP is “continuously strengthening.”
AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, stating that she failed her first test after nine months in power. He also alleged vote manipulation by the BJP in Ashok Vihar, a claim the BJP vehemently denies.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva hailed the victory as a reflection of the party’s hard work and the voters’ appreciation for fielding eight women candidates, six of whom won. He dismissed AAP’s allegations as “frustration” following their “severe defeat.”
Chief Minister Gupta congratulated BJP workers, praising their “hard work, dedication, and collective strength.”
Meanwhile, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav saw the party’s single win as the “beginning of a political comeback,” claiming that the people are again “looking to the Congress as a credible alternative.”
The bypoll results have sparked debate about the political landscape in Delhi, with each party interpreting the outcome as a sign of their future prospects.
