Wed Dec 03 06:27:38 UTC 2025: ## FBI Offers $50,000 Reward for Indian National in 2017 Murder Case

New York, December 3, 2025 (The Hindu) – The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Nazeer Hameed, an Indian national wanted in connection with the brutal 2017 murders of Sasikala Narra and her six-year-old son, Anish Narra, in Maple Shade, New Jersey.

Hameed, 38, is charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder and weapons offenses. According to US authorities, Hameed fled to India six months after the killings, where he remains. Investigators identified Hameed as a person of interest after discovering he was allegedly stalking the victim’s husband, Hanumanth Narra.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has directly appealed to the Indian government for Hameed’s extradition, sending a letter and making a call to Indian Ambassador to the U.S. Vinay Kwatra. Governor Murphy stressed the heinous nature of the crime and pledged New Jersey’s full cooperation with Indian authorities to facilitate the extradition process.

The investigation has faced challenges, including unsuccessful attempts to obtain a DNA sample from Hameed in India. A crucial breakthrough came from a DNA sample taken from Hameed’s employer, which matched an unknown blood droplet found at the crime scene.

Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw and Maple Shade Police Chief Christopher Fletcher have emphasized their unwavering commitment to securing justice for the victims and urged full cooperation between the US and India to ensure Hameed’s extradition and prosecution. The Indian Cultural Centre of Southern New Jersey has also been acknowledged for its support during the lengthy investigation.
