Sun Nov 30 22:10:00 UTC 2025: Sixers Face Tough Test Against Hawks Despite McCain’s Surge
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia 76ers, fresh off a 115-103 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, face a significantly tougher challenge Sunday night as they host the Atlanta Hawks. While the Sixers secured a much-needed win, their injury woes persist, and the Hawks present a formidable opponent.
Rookie Jared McCain had a standout performance against the Nets, scoring a season-high 20 points and recording a career-high five steals. Tyrese Maxey continued his stellar play with a near triple-double, while Adem Bona stepped up in the absence of the injured Andre Drummond (questionable with a sprained knee).
However, the Sixers injury list remains lengthy. Joel Embiid (right knee injury management), Kelly Oubre Jr. (left knee sprain), and Trendon Watford (left adductor strain) are all ruled out. VJ Edgecombe (left calf injury management) has been upgraded to questionable.
The Hawks, despite being without Trae Young (knee injury) and Kristaps Porzingis (illness), have been playing well, holding the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. Onyeka Okongwu has elevated his game in Porzingis’ absence, becoming a scoring threat both inside and out. Jalen Johnson has also stepped up as an all-star level player and playmaker.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been key for the Hawks in Young’s absence.
The Sixers will need Maxey to continue his strong play, McCain to maintain his momentum, and role players like Bona to contribute significantly. The defense will need to step up to contain Johnson and Alexander-Walker.
