Bengaluru Autorickshaw Drivers Embroiled in Two Separate Incidents, Evading Police
Bengaluru, December 1, 2025 – Bengaluru police are investigating two separate incidents involving autorickshaw drivers, raising concerns about public safety and adherence to traffic laws.
In the first incident, Sadashivanagar police are actively searching for an autorickshaw driver who allegedly fled with a traffic constable inside his vehicle after being stopped for causing an accident on a one-way street near 10th Cross on Thursday night. Constable Radhakrishna, after witnessing the autorickshaw collide with a scooter, entered the vehicle to direct the driver to the police station. However, the driver sped off towards Hebbal, driving recklessly. In the ensuing chaos, Radhakrishna’s walkie-talkie was damaged. The driver eventually abandoned the autorickshaw in Ganganagar and escaped. Upon inspection of the vehicle, police found a dagger hidden under the driver’s seat. A case has been registered against the driver under Sections 132, 281, and 324 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
In a separate incident at the Palace Guttahalli bus stop, Constable Madesha K.M. was reportedly verbally abused and threatened by an autorickshaw driver after advising him to follow lane discipline and reduce his speed. The driver, who was carrying a patient, was driving recklessly. When Madesha cautioned him to drive carefully due to the passenger’s apparent distress, the driver allegedly hurled abuses and threatened him. An FIR has been filed, and police are using the autorickshaw’s registration number to locate the accused.
Both incidents occurred on November 30, 2025 and are currently under investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
