Telangana Aims for $3 Trillion Economy by 2047 with “Telangana Rising” Policy
Hyderabad, November 30, 2025 – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy today unveiled the ambitious “Telangana Rising – Vision 2047” policy, setting the state’s sights on a $3 trillion economy within the next two decades. Addressing the media in Hyderabad after a meeting with his cabinet and officials, Reddy stated that Telangana’s ambition extends beyond competing with other Indian states, aiming to rival developed nations like China, Japan, and South Korea.
The policy document, developed in collaboration with ISB and NITI Aayog, emphasizes economic growth, job creation, quality healthcare, and education for all. A key element of the plan is the division of the state into three distinct development regions:
- Core Urban Region Economy (CURE): Focused on service sector growth, this region, encompassing Hyderabad within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), aims for sustainability, including transforming Hyderabad into a pollution-free, net-zero city. Polluting industries will be relocated. Initiatives such as Musi River rejuvenation and Metro Rail expansion are planned.
- Peri Urban Region Economy (PURE): This area will focus on projects like Bharat Future City, supported by greenfield express highways and bullet trains to drive economic growth.
- Rural Agriculture Region Economy (RARE): Designated for agricultural development and agri-hubs.
Connectivity is a central theme, with plans to improve strategic links from Hyderabad to Machilipatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh and to develop new airports in Warangal, Adilabad, Kothagudem, and Ramagundam. The Greenfield Express Highway from Hyderabad to Machilipatnam has already received in-principle approval from the central government.
“We will dedicate an excellent policy to the nation that ensures transparency,” Reddy asserted. He emphasized the government’s commitment to learning from the past and involving all stakeholders in shaping Telangana’s economic future, with farmers playing a crucial role in the state’s development.
