Sat Nov 29 15:45:48 UTC 2025: Mysuru Gears Up for Month-Long Theatre Festival Leading to Bahuroopi Jubilee

Mysuru, India – November 29, 2025 – Rangayana, a prominent theatre group, will kick off a month-long weekend theatre festival starting November 30th, as a prelude to the silver jubilee celebrations of its flagship event, the Bahuroopi national theatre festival, scheduled for January 2026.

According to Rangayana Director Satish Tiptur, the festival will showcase plays performed by various Rangayana repertories across the state. The festival begins with “Gulamana Swatantrya Yatre” by Karkala Rangayana on November 30th, followed by “Mahatmara Baruvigagi” by the same group on December 1st. The schedule includes “My Family” by Mysuru Rangayana on December 7th, “Nammolaobba Gandhi” by Shivamogga Rangayana on December 14th, “Prati Gandharva” by Davangere Rangayana on December 21st, “Kandagalla Bharata” by Dharwad Rangayana on December 28th, and “Kalachakra” by Kalaburagi Rangayana on January 4, 2026. All performances will be held at Bhoomigeetha in the Rangayana complex, commencing at 6:30 PM.

Tiptur highlighted that this marks the first time a festival exclusively featuring Rangayana plays is being organized. He stated the festival aims to cultivate anticipation for Bahuroopi 2026, the theme of which will be Babasaheb. The Bahuroopi festival is slated to begin in the second week of January 2026.

The government has allocated ₹1 crore to support the 25th anniversary of Bahuroopi. Mallikarjun Swamy, Deputy Director of the Department of Kannada and Culture, was present at the poster release for the weekend festival.
