Pakistan Accuses Afghan Taliban of Aiding Terrorists, Border Tensions Rise

Islamabad – November 29, 2025 – The Pakistani military has leveled serious accusations against the Afghanistan Taliban, alleging they are actively facilitating terrorist infiltration across the border. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, head of the Army’s media wing (ISPR), made the claims during a media briefing earlier this week, the video of which was released yesterday.

According to Lt. Gen. Chaudhry, Afghan Taliban forces are providing cover for terrorists and smugglers by opening fire on Pakistani border posts, creating opportunities for illegal crossings. He cited “coordinated attacks” where posts are engaged while smugglers’ vehicles pass through gaps.

The spokesperson addressed concerns about border security, noting that while Pakistan has established posts along the 2,500 km border, completely sealing it is impossible, drawing a comparison to the challenges faced by the U.S. on its border with Mexico. He refuted claims that Pakistan had conducted strikes within Afghanistan.

Lt. Gen. Chaudhry also highlighted ongoing intelligence-based operations (IBOs) against insurgents. Since November 4th, nearly 5,000 IBOs have been carried out, resulting in the deaths of 206 terrorists. Over 67,000 IBOs have been conducted nationwide since January, with Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) seeing the highest number of incidents. There have been 4,729 terrorist incidents since January, with 3,357 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,346 in Balochistan and 26 in other parts of the country.

These accusations come amid deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghan regime of failing to prevent Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists from using Afghan territory as a safe haven. Although there was an agreement last month, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said yesterday, November 28, that there was no truce as it was contingent on the Afghan Taliban stopping terrorist attacks in Pakistan which they had failed to do.
