Sat Nov 29 20:10:00 UTC 2025: Orioles Bolster Bullpen with Ryan Helsley Signing
Baltimore, MD – November 29, 2025 – The Baltimore Orioles have addressed their bullpen needs by signing right-handed reliever Ryan Helsley to a two-year, $28 million contract, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The deal, reported by The Athletic’s Katie Woo, includes an opt-out clause after the 2026 season and is pending a physical. Helsley is represented by Wasserman.
The move comes as Felix Bautista continues to recover from shoulder surgery, potentially sidelining him for the remainder of the 2026 season. Helsley, a former All-Star and 2024 NL Reliever of the Year, brings significant closing experience to Baltimore, having recorded 105 saves with the St. Louis Cardinals from 2022-2025. During that period, Helsley maintained a 2.67 ERA and a high strikeout rate.
Helsley’s tenure with the New York Mets after a mid-season trade saw a decline in performance, with a 7.20 ERA in 22 appearances. The Orioles are hoping that a change of scenery will help Helsley return to his previous form and solidify their bullpen for the upcoming seasons.
