Doncic Praises Flagg After Blockbuster Matchup: ‘He’s a Good Player’
The Sporting News
LOS ANGELES – Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers had high praise for Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg after their Friday night showdown. Doncic, who led the Lakers to victory with 35 points and 11 assists, acknowledged the pressure Flagg faces as a potential number one pick.
“I think he’s a good player,” Doncic told reporters. “Obviously, there’s a lot of pressure that comes with the 1st pick so he has a lot on his shoulder, but I think he will become a great player.”
Flagg, despite the Mavericks’ 129-119 loss, impressed with 13 points and 11 assists, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to achieve that assist milestone. Doncic, a former top-five pick himself, understands the expectations placed on highly touted prospects. He referenced his own successful transition to the NBA as an example.
Doncic is currently averaging 35.1 points, 9.4 assists, and 8.5 rebounds this season.
