Cyclone Ditwah Prompts High Alert in Andhra Pradesh Coastal Districts

Nellore, India – November 30, 2025 – Authorities in Prakasam, SPSR Nellore, and Tirupati districts of Andhra Pradesh have issued warnings and implemented preparedness measures as Cyclone Ditwah approaches the coast.

The Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rains in the region on Monday and Tuesday, prompting district administrations to activate emergency response protocols. Prakasam Collector P. Rajababu assured the public that the administration is prepared to handle any situation arising from the cyclone, which is expected to impact 14 mandals within the district.

In SPSR Nellore, Cyclone Special Officer Dr. N. Yuvraj convened a meeting with district officials, including Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla and Joint Collector Mogili Venkateswarlu, to review preparedness measures. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea, and farmers are urged to postpone paddy harvesting.

Tirupati District Collector Dr. S. Venkateswar instructed officials to prepare relief and rehabilitation efforts, including evacuating residents from low-lying areas and establishing barricades in areas prone to high water flow. Cattle herders have been warned to keep their animals away from fields due to potential thunderstorms.

Emergency services personnel from electricity, panchayat raj, and medical departments are on alert. Control rooms will operate around the clock for cyclone relief operations.
