Sangli, India – November 29, 2025 – What was anticipated to be a joyous celebration for Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and musician Palash Muchhal has been shrouded in mystery after their wedding, scheduled for November 23rd, was unexpectedly postponed.
The postponement was initially attributed to a sudden health emergency involving Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas, who was hospitalized on the wedding day. Adding to the concern, Muchhal himself was admitted to a hospital in Sangli the following day, later transferred to Mumbai for further treatment.
While both Shrinivas Mandhana and Palash Muchhal have since been discharged, a new wedding date has yet to be announced. This delay, coupled with Mandhana’s deletion of wedding-related posts from her Instagram account, has fueled speculation amongst social media users. Adding another layer to the mystery, both Mandhana and Muchhal have updated their Instagram bios with a “nazar” (evil eye) emoticon, a symbol traditionally used to ward off bad luck.
Despite the swirling rumors, family members insist the postponement is solely due to the health emergencies. Team India player Jemimah Rodrigues has even withdrawn from the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) to support Mandhana during this difficult time.
Palash Muchhal’s mother, Amita, has expressed optimism that the wedding will proceed soon, stating that both Smriti and Palash are saddened by the events that transpired. “Everything will be fine, the wedding will happen very soon,” she told Hindustan Times.
