Amnesty International Accuses Israel of Ongoing Genocide in Gaza Despite Ceasefire

Jerusalem – November 28, 2025 – Amnesty International has released a statement accusing Israel of continuing to commit genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire brokered by the U.S. last month. The accusations were made public on Thursday, November 28, 2025.

The fragile truce between Israel and Hamas came into effect on October 10, 2025, after two years of intense conflict. Amnesty International’s Secretary General, Agnes Callamard, expressed concern that the ceasefire is creating a false sense of normalcy in Gaza.

“While Israeli authorities and forces have reduced the scale of their attacks and allowed limited amounts of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the world must not be fooled. Israel’s genocide is not over,” Callamard stated.

Amnesty International maintains that Israel continues to severely restrict the entry of essential supplies and the restoration of crucial services needed for the survival of the civilian population. They assert that there has been no meaningful change in the conditions imposed on Palestinians in Gaza, nor evidence indicating a shift in Israel’s intent.

The human rights group had previously concluded in December 2024 that Israel was committing genocide based on three of the five acts defined by the 1948 UN Genocide Convention, including “deliberately inflicting on Palestinians in Gaza conditions of life calculated to bring about their physical destruction.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry, when contacted by AFP, did not respond to the current allegations. In the past, the Ministry has vehemently denied such accusations, dismissing them as false and fabricated.

The conflict, sparked by Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, has had devastating consequences. The UN considers the Gaza Health Ministry figures reliable. The retaliatory assault on Gaza has killed at least 69,799 people according to the Ministry. Since the ceasefire, the Health Ministry says 352 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire.

In September 2025, an independent UN Commission of Inquiry also concluded that genocide was occurring in Gaza, a claim vehemently denied by Israel. The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to prevent and punish incitement to commit genocide in Gaza.
