Tue Nov 25 03:48:28 UTC 2025: ## Trump Launches “Genesis Mission” to Unleash AI-Powered Scientific Breakthroughs
Washington D.C. – President Donald Trump has signed an executive order establishing the “Genesis Mission,” a national initiative aimed at accelerating scientific discovery through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). The initiative, announced Monday, seeks to leverage the nation’s supercomputing power and vast data resources to create a closed-loop AI experimentation platform.
The order directs US Energy Secretary Chris Wright to unite scientists and technologies across the 17 national laboratories into a single, collaborative research system. The White House drew parallels to the Apollo program, emphasizing the mission’s ambitious goal to tackle some of the world’s most pressing scientific challenges, including nuclear fusion, semiconductor technology, critical materials, and space exploration.
“The Genesis Mission connects world-class scientific data with the most advanced American AI to unlock breakthroughs in medicine, energy, materials science, and beyond,” said Michael Kratsios, the White House’s top science advisor, hailing the initiative as a “revolutionary approach” to scientific research.
The project has already garnered industry support, with chipmaker Nvidia and AI startup Anthropic announcing their partnership with the Trump administration. Nvidia, in a social media post, described the effort as connecting “America’s leading supercomputers, AI systems, and next-generation quantum machines into the most complex scientific instrument ever built – accelerating breakthroughs in energy, discovery, and national security.”
Since returning to the White House, Trump has prioritized cutting regulations to expedite AI development, framing it as a critical driver of economic growth. Last week, he urged Congress to establish a national AI standard, cautioning against a fragmented approach with differing state regulations. He argued that “Overregulation by the States is threatening to undermine this Growth Engine” and called for “one Federal Standard instead of a patchwork of 50 State Regulatory Regimes.”
