Chennai, India – November 24, 2025 – Following forecasts of heavy rainfall, numerous districts across Tamil Nadu and the regions of Puducherry and Karaikal have announced school and college closures for today, Monday, November 24th. District Collectors in Kallakurichi and Ramanathapuram have declared holidays, with similar announcements coming from Puducherry Home Minister A. Namassivayam for Puducherry and Karaikal. Other districts declaring school holidays include Virudhunagar, Thanjavur, Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Ariyalur, and Karur.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heavy rainfall in Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Virudhunagar, and Ramanathapuram districts.
