Sun Nov 23 19:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Knox’s McLaughlin Falls Short of State Title, Ends Record-Breaking Season
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WNDU) – Myles McLaughlin’s historic senior season at Knox High School came to an end Friday night with a semi-state championship loss to Fort Wayne Luers. While the loss dashed the team’s state title hopes and McLaughlin’s bid to surpass Derrick Henry as the nation’s all-time leading rusher, it couldn’t diminish the remarkable accomplishments of his final year.
McLaughlin broke national records this season for rushing yards and touchdowns in a single season, ultimately finishing his high school career as the second-leading rusher in the country, just behind NFL star Derrick Henry.
“It was a great season; I’ll look at that the rest of my life and be super grateful for it,” McLaughlin said after the game. “It just sucks we went out this way.”
Despite the disappointment of the loss, McLaughlin emphasized the bonds he forged with his teammates. “Just the brotherhood, man,” he said. “I’ve played with these kids since I was really little, probably elementary school, and I’m just really going to miss these guys for sure.”
Looking ahead, McLaughlin announced that he will soon be revealing his college football commitment.
