Lions Bolster Roster with Key Returns for Giants Matchup

Detroit, MI – The Detroit Lions are set to face the New York Giants today with a strengthened roster, welcoming back key players from injury while navigating ongoing absences.

Cornerback D.J. Reed will make his return to the field for the first time since Week 4, after recovering from a hamstring injury suffered against the Cleveland Browns. Reed’s presence is expected to significantly boost the Lions’ secondary, which has already demonstrated strong performance in recent weeks. Before his injury, opponents completed only 50% of passes thrown his way, resulting in a remarkably low 44.3 passer rating.

Also making his highly anticipated 2025 debut is linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, returning from an ACL tear sustained last October. Rodriguez’s return is anticipated to have an immediate positive impact on special teams and provides valuable depth at the linebacker position. Veteran cornerback Khalil Dorsey is also back in action after recovering from a wrist injury, further strengthening the special teams unit.

However, the Lions will be without safety Kerby Joseph (knee), who will miss his fifth consecutive game, and cornerback Terrion Arnold (concussion), who will sit out his second game.

Despite several players listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, including key offensive players like left tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder), center Graham Glasgow (knee), guard Tate Ratledge (knee), right tackle Penei Sewell (ankle), wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa (oblique) and running back Sione Vaki (ankle) all are active today.

Joining Joseph and Arnold on the inactive list are running back Craig Reynolds, cornerback Nick Whiteside, and defensive linemen Quinton Jefferson and Mekhi Wingo.

The Lions are looking to capitalize on the return of key players as they face the Giants today.
