Mon Nov 24 01:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Rams Cornerback Cobie Durant Fined Nearly $18,000 for Illegal Tackle

Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Rams cornerback Cobie Durant, despite having a career-best season, is facing a financial setback after being fined $17,389 by the NFL for an illegal “hip-drop tackle” during the Rams’ Week 11 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

The fine, levied for “unnecessary roughness,” stems from a third-quarter play where Durant tackled Seahawks tight end AJ Barner after a 5-yard reception. While no penalty was called during the game, the league reviewed the play and determined the tackle was in violation of the rules. The Seahawks ultimately settled for a field goal on the drive.

This is the first fine of Durant’s career, and adds to a total of nine fines levied against Rams players this season, according to Spotrac. Durant, who is in the final year of his contract, has been a key player for the Rams this season, starting eight of their ten games. He is having a career year, allowing just 52% completion on passes thrown his way, the fifth-best mark among defenders facing at least 50 targets.

Durant wasn’t the only player fined from the Week 11 contest. Seahawks linebacker Tyrice Knight was fined $6,406 for illegal “use of the helmet” on kickoff coverage, a hit that left Rams wide receiver Xavier Smith in concussion protocol. Veteran Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed, currently on injured reserve, was also fined $14,491 for “unsportsmanlike conduct” for bumping Rams linebacker Byron Young on the sideline.
